CaribSurf is an independent Caribbean travel website built from first-hand experience. I have travelled through the Caribbean for many years and explored many of its islands in depth. That is why the site does not simply repeat generic travel information. It tries to show the real differences between islands, beaches, towns, ferry connections, travel styles and everyday life in the region. Since 1999. CaribSurf has been online since 1999. Over the years, many months of work have gone into building, expanding and updating this website, and that does not even include the time spent travelling and photographing the Caribbean. Much of what you see here grew slowly through repeated journeys, careful observation and a genuine fascination with the islands. Why CaribSurf is different. I know the Caribbean with its many islands as few people do. Some travellers know one island well. Others know only cruises or resorts. CaribSurf was created to help people who want to explore the Caribbean more thoughtfully and choose destinations that truly fit their interests. Support for local people. Tourism is a lifeline for many Caribbean communities. Even if you stay in an all-inclusive resort, please also eat in local restaurants, buy in small shops and explore beyond the hotel grounds when appropriate. That way more of your travel budget reaches the people who give the islands their character. If CaribSurf helps you, you can support the site in a simple way. When you book a trip, reserve accommodation or later order a recommended book through one of the links on CaribSurf, the site may receive a small commission. Usually the price stays the same for you, but your booking or order helps keep CaribSurf online, independent and worth improving further. If the site has been useful to you, that is a very welcome way to support the work behind it. Your wishes and suggestions are welcome. I am happy to consider personal requests, corrections and ideas whenever they are likely to improve the website for all visitors. CaribSurf should not simply become bigger. It should become more useful. Helpful feedback from travellers is therefore always appreciated. Photography. Most photographs on CaribSurf come from my own journeys through the Caribbean. The equipment shown below reflects different periods of that photographic work. |
