Where to Stay in The Bahamas
A practical shortlist for Nassau, Paradise Island, Cable Beach and selected Out Islands, from affordable independent inns to major resorts and quiet island hideaways.
The Bahamas are not one destination but a widely scattered archipelago. Nassau and Paradise Island are easiest for short stays, restaurants, shopping, nightlife and organised excursions. Exuma, Harbour Island and Grand Bahama offer very different experiences, from quiet beach hotels to small-island bases where the surrounding place matters more than a long list of resort facilities.
Location matters unusually strongly here. A cheap room far from food, beaches or transport can become expensive once taxis are added. Nassau can work well without a car in the right district. On Exuma and several other Out Islands, a rental car or golf cart often becomes part of the trip.
