Affordable Caribbean Accommodation
The Caribbean is not automatically a low-cost destination, but independent travellers can often reduce accommodation costs dramatically by choosing small guesthouses, hostels and self-catering apartments instead of large beachfront resorts. The biggest savings usually come from location, kitchen facilities and travel dates rather than from finding a single “cheap hotel”.

What “Budget” Means in the Caribbean
A useful comparison is the total daily cost rather than the room rate alone. A US$90 apartment near a supermarket and bus route can be better value than a US$65 room that requires taxis and restaurant meals. On expensive islands, a simple independent inn may still cost more than a comfortable apartment on a less expensive island.
